I have put the question in this section rather than the "hair loss drug" section as I know absolutely nothing about the drug.
Does anyone have any information on a drug called Siklosporin?
I was watching the news today and a boy came on who was receiving treatment for leukemia, he was being interviewed via web-cam due to his immune system (I bring this up as it suggests to me that he is early in to his treatment).
Anyway, the interviewer was shocked as to the amount of hair the boy had. He said "You have so much hair, it looks great" (which he did, his head was covered) the boy replied "Yeah, I have been taking a drug called Siklosporin, it makes my hair grow really fast, that's why my eyebrows are so bushy".
I have Googled the drug but found very little, most of the links are not in English. I did find one study that talked about it being used to treat Alopecia Areata (I only had a quick skim through the study as I was on my way to work and the computer here won't open the link for some reason) but I believe the findings were complete regrowth when treating AA.
If this drug has such good results when treating AA and patients who have lost their hair due to receiving treatment for cancer - would it be of any benefit to people suffering Androgenetic Alopecia or maybe it would be of benefit in post-op?
