hey guys this is my first post. I am 24 and have mildly thinning hair on what i think is the vertex (top-back area). Ive been taking proscar (1mg/day) for 3 months now. I noticed increased hair in my hand in the shower about 1 week in, which has remained constant to this point. i undertand proscar causes increased hairloss as part of its process. My main question is how long should i expect this initail shedding stage to last?
Thanks! |

devin,
I've heard the hair shedding phase can last up to a couple of months, though I wouldn't expect it to go beyond 3. Know that hair does go through cycles and a certain amount of shedding is considered normal. It's advised to use finasteride for a year before determining whether or not it's working for you. So unless you experience side effects or advised differently by a physician, you may want to consider going the distance. All the Best, Bill

I have used Propecia/Proscar for over 10 years and have always shed more hair than normal after dht began attacking my poor little follicles. If you want to keep the hair you have and quite possibly grow some back, I would advise you to consider keeping it as part of your fight against hair loss.
