Following in Jana's footsteps, I wanted to post an older result, this one from 2004 that I think is of value as well. This patient came to our practice in his early 20's having been on Propecia for two years. Dr. True conservatively replaced the patient's vellus (miniturized/thinning) frontal region with 1537 grafts. Currently he now has just permanent transplanted hair in the frontal third of this pattern. This patient has a high comfort level with just the one treatment result but is considering a second step to keep pace with hair loss progression he has noticed over the last couple years.

Orangehair,

Though hair transplant surgery has come along way even in the last 5 years, it's obvious Dr. True was on top of the curve even in 2004.

Thanks for posting.

Bill

thanks for the comment Bill...I don't think younger patients should be disuaded from considering a transplant as long as they are given a short and long term plan. If they have been given the proper perspective on the potential of their hair loss progression and have taken the initiative as far as committing to medical therapy (ideally Rogaine and Propecia) then starting, usually a bit more conservatively, can be a rewarding step for a young hair loss sufferer.

I like the way the patient has styled his hair after the procedure - this is a great result and only 1537 grafts speaks of the doc's concern to conserve donor area for the future.
Does "standard closure" mean that a tricophytic closure was not done on this patient? If so, why?

hi thanks phx......in 2004 trichophytic wasn't a mainstream or i should say a well developed technique.....keep in a mind the current closure results can still very undetectable whether its standard or tricho, depends a patient's characteristics, the drs preference, consideration for future procedures, etc.

orangehair, thanks for clarifying. I was thinking of the same thing. Yes, the scar is hardly visible in this case.
