does anyone have experience having a successful hair transplant and have their hair parted in the middle? this might be a dumb question, but i am curious if the results are natural, or if it is not advisable to do that because of density issues. hence, exposure to scalp is a mistake. please answer

Transplanted hairs are supposed to be placed in a neutral orientation. There should be an attempt to restore the hair to its natural angle and direction. Therefore, you should be able to part your hair in the middle if you desire. I think that hair parted in the middle is not as popular as it once was. Also, remember that the hair usually looks thinner in the parted area. This also holds true if the hair is parted on the left or right. In general people who have hair loss or thinning tend to part their hair to one side because they get better coverage and the illusion of more hair by creating the layering effect.

"Also, remember that the hair usually looks thinner in the parted area."
What happens if you have another HT? Then would the problem of thinning resolve? It is very easy to comb my hair downward and use toppik, but I would love to do practically any style. I hope this is a reasonable expectation. Thank you for the feedback, doctor. My surgeon did mention that you'll expose the scalp and that generally is not a healthy option as the weight seems to expose the scalp more. but i do like long hair and would love to have this as a natural option [as well as a moderate buzz cut]. i asked because rarely do i see before/after pictures where patients don't share the donor site and even more rare do i see long hair patients after a HT. |
