Let's get something straight, I still stand firm behind my statement that more than 30% growth in scar tissue has not been proven. I have asked hundreds of times for proof of hair growing from scar tissue without a single reply with photographs. Show a before and after and then I will eat crow, until this is done it is my belief that it cannot and has not been done.
Oh, so what about my scar? First off, there has been no official count of the hairs growing from my scar so it is not possible to determine if 75 hairs are growing, 170 hairs are growing or if all 270 hairs are growing. Dr Feller is speculating that 60% have grown, he could be dramatically off in his percentages or he may be right on, neither one of us will know for sure until I shave my head and we do a count, which will be happening within the next month. I will post this one last time on this site so you can reflect on it, I am tired of having to re-type the same things over and over. 1. My scar is over 2 years old. I have repeatedly stated that older scars are more responsive to taking hair grafts than newer scars due to changes within the scar itself. 2. My scar has been needled with a tattoo gun, if you are unfamiliar with what needling does for scars here is a link: http://www.transitionspmc.com/needling.htm Basically, the process of needling changes the characteristics of the scar itself making it softer, flatter and more vascular. It is said to improve blood flow and collagen production rendering the tissue more like normal tissue and less like scar tissue. 3. My scar and surrounding scalp was stretched out for 2 months using an expander. The skin's characteristics are permanantly altered after a TE surgery. More vessels are produced and the skin becomes thinner and more vascular. Do a search on Tissue Expansion to see the medical explanation of what happens to the skin after TE surgery. For these reasons I feel MY scar responded slightly better than normal, meaning that I feel I may have gotten a better yield than the standard of 30% in scar tissue. Very few of you, if any, have had TE expansion, needling or have very old scars. You may have one of the 3 but, not all 3. So why is it that you think you will repsond as well or better in YOUR scar than I did in my scar? For the last time, I challenge anybody, anywhere, to provide a photo of THEIR scar, before and after HT grafting and prove to me (us) that they can get adequate yield in their scar. Do not use me as an example, my scar is vastly different than anyone elses in the world. The majority of people who will be grafting into their scar have had no TE surgery or needling so show me a SINGLE photo of a scar like that and then I will eat crow. Until then, I stand firm in stating that no more than 30% of grafts will survive when planted into a liniar HT scar. I would like to thank Dr Feller for doing an excellent job in extraction, lateral slit planting and documenting my procedure from beginning to end. We are planning a 3000 FUE in the near future and will dense pack my scar(s) at that time and take a magnified hi-resolution photo of my scar to determine exactly what percentage grew at that time. VOCOR: Could you please post a single photograph of your scar results, after asking you over 100 times for 2 years I think you should post them or remain out of any threads related to scar grafting. You have no credibility, proof, evidence or experience of any kind related to any matters concerning HT scar grafting. Please post photos or find some other thread to comment on. If you do not I will ask you for photos and repost this paragraph on ever single thread you reply to in any forum. |

balloonman,
with all that said, you've made a fantastic cosmetic improvement...good for you...however with this procedure being relatively new,how can you you assume 30% is an average yield, who the hell can assume any percentages as a norm at this point, bottomline is more and more people are having this done, with a positive outlook, and are hopefully moving ahead with their insecurities,as they try and conquer them with some fue grafting. i for one will be having this done in the fall, and i'd like to think the glass is half full, not half empty....so try and be a little more supportive for people who have unsightly scars and are looking for help...i just don't get it...kudo's to dr. feller, and how do you put up with this guys negative attitude... |
