This patient first came to the Quatela Center for Hair Restoration in January 2008 with concerns about hair loss. His surgery was scheduled for April 2008 for a 2000 graft session. The patient ended up with 2367 grafts which were placed in the frontal area of his head.

The team concentrated on packing the frontal forelock with two and three hair grafts. They strategically created an irregular hairline with single hair grafts followed by two hair grafts. After dissecting the donor site into follicular hair grafts, they were left with 835 one's, 1121 two's and 411 three's. Since the patient had very fine hair and because there were mostly one and two hair grafts, the team had to use more grafts to fill in the area to achieve the desired result for this transplant. They combined the majority of single hair grafts and turned them into two hair grafts. They also combined one and two hair grafts to make them into three hair grafts to achieve greater density.

The team used the stick and place method when placing in an effort to have more control over each and every graft that was placed. The donor site area healed well leaving an unnoticed scar at 6 months. This patient was extremely pleased with the results he achieved at 6 months.

Dang, this looks really good from where he was. Most guys at that stage probably think there would be no hope, but he looks 1,000x better.

And at 6 months I suspect he'll continue to improve.

Dr. Quatela,

It's great to see you posting your results on our hair restoration forum.

I agree with Dewayne that this is a very nice improvement from where he was.

Does this patient have any plans to come back for additional work in the back half of the scalp?

Also, if you have any top down after photos, this would be helpful.

Best wishes,

Bill

I have to agree with Dewayne here. Nice result and hairline placement for this guy. Was this guy not looking for some minimal coverage throught the top and crown or was his donor limited to the 2300 you extracted. I think he probably achieved the conservative result he was looking.

Wouldn't have minded seeing an after top down as well but I'm pretty sure we know what we would see with the picture the Dr. poste of the graft placement.

Unfortunately, we did not capture the top down after photo at his last follow-up appointment. He has an appointment in two weeks and we will make sure to get that shot so that we can post it for you to see. Stay tuned.

In addition, the patient does not have any plans for a transplant in the near future. He is extremely pleased with his results and is enjoying his new hairline right now. If he expresses interest in the future, we would certainly be happy to help him achieve his hair restoration goals.
