This Norwood 6 man in his early 40s had punch grafts in the frontal area in 1990 and wore a hair system since 1991 to hide them. The grafts were not directed uniformly. His goal was to have enough natural-looking hair to get rid of his system.

He has sufficient donor hair available but his tight scalp and 2 previous donor scars limit the number of grafts available in any one session. The top scar is high but the bottom scar is in the safe zone and can be removed with each session. He would need at least 3 sessions.

In this session, we concentrated on the front. He had multiple 1 mm FUE from each punch graft to remove, redirect, and reuse his hair. The incisions were allowed to heal spontaneously. He had 2470 fug to the frontal area with 40 fug per sq cm in the midfrontal forelock, 35 behind the 1s in the hairline, then 30 grafts per sq cm towards the back of the transplanted area before fading out. These are much lower densities than I would use for someone who had more donor hair available and a smaller area to cover.

So far, his hair looks more natural but there is still a lot of work to do to get more coverage then later to add more density where it will help the most.

Big improvement...looking at at his old plugs makes you wonder now how anybody thought those kinds of transplants would do anything other than look horrendous. Makes you glad it's 2009, though you still have to be careful. Reminds me of the saying "Prior planning and preparation prevents piss poor performance" or Piss poor transplant in the H/T world.
