I am 6 months out from my second surgery with Dr. Paul Shapiro. You can link to my photo album for my first surgery at:Baxter 12 month update, 3315 Grafts, 9063 Hairs w/ Dr. Paul Shapiro
The goal of my second surgery was to bring down the temporal angles just a bit, to cover the crown and to get more density in the area of the top of my crown/ the back 2/3 of my scalp. In my second session Dr. Paul got 2761 FU's., 5820 hairs, He could not get as much as my first session because my scalp did tighten up a bit. I did not do any stretching exercise to loosen my scalp but now I wish I had done them.
I am very happy with my results. As you can see the density in the top of my crown looks great and my crown is filling in. It is only 6 months and I expect to see more crown growth. Also, Dr. Paul told me that in his experience crown results take longer then 12 months, more like 14 to 16 months.
My total hair count for the two surgeries is:
6076 Grafts (5,672 FU/403 DFU) ??“ 9,063 Hairs
2761 FU's ??“ 5,820 Hiars

Total Grafts, 6,076
Total Hairs, 14,883

Baxter,

I remember meeting you at last year's ISHRS conference in Montreal. I hope you had a good time there and didn't mind too horribly much that dozens of attendees were combing their way through your hair :-).

The frontal 2/3rds of your scalp looked great after your first surgery. This second procedure will certainly help create a more natural look in the back and eliminate the bald spot.

Things are looking great for you so far. Keep us posted!

All the Best,

Bill

Baxter,

That's a great transformation you've had so far. Despite being only 6-months into your 2nd surgery addressing your crown, it really does bring everything together. It's amazing how even the growth that has come through so far has really made a dramatic appearance change.

From everything I've seen on HT growth in crowns, it does seem to take longer - closer to 18 months for final results vs. around 12 for hairlines, etc. I'm not sure why, but it just seems to be this way with crowns.

I should also say thanks for the great comparison photos at multiple angles. You've raised the bar for all of us in posting our own photos!

Hi baxter,

did Dr. Paul work the hairline once or in both surgeries?

It's looks absolutely natural, congratulations!

The naturalness of it is incredible, but the difference in "apparent age" is what is astounding to me. I just can't believe how having that hair framing the face makes such a dramatic difference. To me, you look dramatically younger and healthier now. Not saying you weren't healthy before, but you just look "fresher"?

Thanks for all the positive comments.
A lot of my friends are saying I look younger.
Dr. Paul did my hairline during the first surgery.
For the second surgery he did bring out my temporal corners in both sides a bit to help frame my face a bit more. But he did not do any other hairline work in the second surgery.
He did add some density behind the hair line and in the central core area, but focused more on the back of the scalp and crown area
