This 33 year old male came in for his 6 month pos op exam. The area of balding I covered is about 100 sq.cm. I was hoping to get 3,500 to 4,000 grafts. Unfortunately his donor skin was tight and his donor density was about 75 FU/sqcm which is below average. I first took out a donor strip that was 1.6 cm wide but the closure was tight and I had to decrease the width of his donor strip to 1.4 cm wide. His donor did yield 3118 grafts and fortunately he had a good percentage of 3 and 4 hair grafts to place in and behind the central core area. At 6 months he is looking good and very happy with his results, but I expect to see more growth over the next 6 months. Hopefully he will come in for a one year follow up and I can post more photos.
His graft and hair breakdown is as follows:
1's ??“ 466
2's ??“ 1871
3's - 677
4's - 104
Total grafts 3118/Total hairs 6655

Excellent result! I really like the hairline design and at only 6 months I'm sure it will improve.

Wow! This guy looks 10 years younger.
At 6 months with his hair caliber I would call this an amazing transformation.
Being able to cut your hair this short after strip is impressive

Hey Doc,
Excellent result. His scar is phenomenal. What clip is his back shaved to? My scar is extremely red at 7 months with a 4 clip, will that reside some?

Every one of Dr. Paul Shapiro's post op albums make me even more happy that I went to him for my second procedure and this one is no exception. I think the texture of my hair is somewhat similar to this patient and I'd be ecstatic with this kind of growth at six months!

Looking good! I'm sure he has a good deal more thickening to come, too. His hair caliber doesn't look thick, but in turn everything is growing in nice and really soft.

Sorry but I did not ask him what size clipper he used for his hair cut. But it looks like a number 3.
As for your redness. The healing process of a scar is complex and can take up to one year to completely heal. Most patients the redness is gone by 6 months. But I have seen patients in which it takes up to a year for the redness to go away. And in some cases even longer. It is easy to say be patient, but that is the best advice I can give you. Hopefully at one year your scar will be less noticeable.
Dr. Paul

Dr. Paul Shapiro,

Great write up, great pictures, and great results for just six months. Incredibly soft hairline with a very nice transition into his native hair...The blending is very good...

O.K. here is a goofy question, do you think with his fine blond hair and fair skin that the appearance of his tan added to the illusion of denisty in terms of scalp to hair contrast?

And it's great to see him so happy in his follow-up pictures.

Very Nice...

More hugely impressive work. Love the hairline design. Good harvest numbers for below average donor factors. I agree with Thana, donor density doesnt look great but hair:skin tone ratio seems as though it assists. Impressed again!
