BillyGlenn,
You'll want to ask your doc about that one. What I've been told is not to "pop" anything as you might cause trauma to your hair in that area. You can take a warm, wet hand towel, and hold it on the spot, this should bring the junk to the surface and away from your hair follicle without the popping. However, to be safe I'd really email or call your surgeon.

Billy,
Pimples from ingrown hairs usually subside on their own after a few days. However, to facilitate healing, you may want to apply a warm damp cloth to the area. Actually, that far out from surgery, you should be able to apply alcohol based products as well. As odd as this may sound, historically, I've applied listerine mouthwash to the affected area which I've found to work wonders on the area. Though I'm not a huge fan of popping pimples, I've employed the method before and it's worked. But to do it right, the pimple really must have fully blossomed. Premature popping really doesn't work right and only further aggravates the area. I hope this helps. Bill
