This fellow had around 2300 grafts via strip method by me in January. I tell all prospective patients that every year I have one patient who is REALLY BOTHERED by the numbness/tightness who calls me and sees me frequently. This year its this man.
He was in yesterday and after being abroad for the past few weeks, says that everything is back to normal, and in fact he is starting to see some growth just beginning. After reading the suture vs staple discussion thread, I figured I'd post this. He had a 2 layer trichophytic closure, looked crusty at day 7, still a bit crusty at 2 weeks(and extruded a deep suture), and has progressed normally since then. He smoked(against my wishes) during a break in the case, and called or emailed me 20 times since his case. BUT, he looks fantastic. I would rank this up with any scar out there and it will be even less noticable at his next visit--scheduled for 6 months but possibly sooner. He said that removing the sutures hurt, most of our guys say it doesn't. In fact MINT, had his wife who is a nurse take out his sutures last week and I think he posted the pics. The key in my opinion is not sutures vs staples, but rather taking the skin "load" off of the skin edges with deep sutures which eventually dissolve but can extrude on occasion, like this man had at 2 weeks.
