Ok folks

Happy new yr to everyone

I am now 9 months post op

When I was 18 I started to worry about my hairline receding ,at this stage it was not but was always a fanatic about my hair falling out.

In 2003 at the age of 24 I start to use rogaine extra strenght twice a day, my hairline by this stage was definitely starting to recede and I was worrying about going bald...

In 2007 I went to a very good doctor,Dr Maurice collins in Blackrock clinic in Ireland,he took photos and said I was not ready for a transplant as I wanted my hairline lowered and he prescribed Proscar which I have been on ever since

I returnd to Dr ,Collins every 6 months and on the 3rd visit and after I eXplained to him that I understood that if we did the transplant now we would prob only have enough hair for two more transplants as at this stage my hair was thick at the back and only receding in the front so the concern was doing the transplant now having plenty of hair at the front and a few yr later losing the back and the front being thicker than the back,I told him the rogaine hopefully will prevent this but we never know

at this stage I would have been 7 yrs on rogaine and 3 yrs on proscar

I was quoted 11euro per graft and we would do 15oo total would be 16500 euro(he has since come down to 10 euro and if you can afford it he is one of the best I have seen)

This was little out of my price budget

At this stage I started to google hairtransplant doctors and the best reviews in my opinion were Dr Alan Feller

I rang and spoke to Marcia and they put me onto Spex
I was quoted for 1500 grafts 8500 dollars approx 6000 euro
I was given all the info on the surgery and the only thing I had to to before hand was send photos ,blood work and deposit, the photos were first and I explained what and where was the problem

Once we agreed I booked my flight and hotel from Dublin- New York in April 2009 and we stay in the Waldorf Astoria total for flight and hotel 900 euro
(procedure and flight and 5 star hotel for 6 nights 6900 euro)

The morning of the operation I was a little nervous and took xanax (I checked with the doc )

Once I got there only Dr Alan was there and I waited in the waiting room and watched as each memember of staff arrivd and they all seemed really friendly and all had good working relationship.

I was called into Dr Feller office and he put me at ease straight away,we went throught everything and he agree the hairline had receded and he said 1500 should do it(he ended doing 2000 at no extra cost)

I was brought into have the doner area numbed and the injection were nothing more than a slight sting but nothing like some people have described here.

once this was numb the doner area was taken, you imagine what they are doing but really no pain and then he joined the area up with staples

then we went onto the hailine and this was numbed,, again a sting but thats it..this is were he get serious,no talking as he put the holes were the hair will go..this takes a couple of hr all while he does this there are about 6 other people sorting out the doner hair seperating them etc(so 7 people are working so far, this is when you realise where your 6000 euro is going and god is it worth it)

once the holes are done we stop for lunch and they bring me in my order which they took earlier

then the 2 techincians come in and get to placing the hair in the holes the doc made

This took another few hrs but this goes by quick listening to the banter and stories of the staff

(I was very happy when on 2 diffrent occasions they commented how tightly packed the hairs will be)

once this was finish they told me the aftercare and what to expect

when I looked in the mirror I was delighted with my new hairline and dreaded the next 2 weeks when I knew it would fall out only to regrow 3 month later, but for the next 2 weeks I enjoyed a great hairline

I was put into a taxi and arrived back in the hotel and was on a complete buzz,my head was a little tight but no pain really once you take the medication

I went out that evening and chilled no pain just a high that I had the procedure over with

my 2 friends that were with me were amazed with the new hairline and said they never realise how far back it was until they seen it now lower with the new hair

that night I slept upright with a lot of pillow to keep the fluid going down, the only shock was how swollen my forhead was the next few days and you could see it working its way down onto my nose, mouth but I had sunglasses on and a loose headscraf(say I looked a right sight lol)the swelling only lasted about three day and I enjoyed Manhattan like I always did

the staple wer a little sore to sleep on

I flew home 6 days later and eevrything went much better than I planned

10 days after the op My niece who is a nurse started to take the staples out, this was painful worse than the injection taking donor area etc so she took every second one and got some numbing cream and put this on 2 day later to remove the rest

The next few months were a downer but I expected this as all the hair fell out in the transplanted area(which I expected)and I actually looked worse than before .

for 3 month I wore a headband/hat to keep the area coverd and came up with a great story of what happened

its now months later and I am delighted with the results,in my opinion its one of the best I have ever seen,NO ONE ever noticed

I have a few photos to put up too

hope this helped anyone thinking of having it done and my story didnt put you to sleep

I would recommend it to anyone

Hapyy 2010

Peace...
