I have been taking Avodart for the last 12 months.

Planning to start a family and a little skeptical about continuing with Avodart. Read some articles on the internet with the following information:

??? It is important that you do not father a baby while taking Avodart.
??? If you father a child, your partner must tell her doctor that the baby was conceived while you were taking Avodart. If your partner becomes pregnant, or thinks she has become pregnant, she must contact her prescriber.
??? This medicine has been reported to affect semen characteristics (reduction in sperm count, semen volume, and sperm motility) in healthy men. This means that there is a possibility that it may therefore reduce your fertility and ability to father a child. If this is a concern to you, you should discuss fertility with your doctor before starting treatment.

I had also contacted GlaxoSmithKline about AVODART and got the following response.

???You have asked an important question about AVODART?? (dutasteride). We encourage you to discuss medical concerns and symptoms with the appropriate healthcare provider. Your healthcare provider is in the best position to answer your question.???

Although, I would be consulting my Doctor but any other additional feedback would be helpful.

Should I quit Avodart?

Thanks

You should stop taking Avodart. Having a child is a big decision. You owe it to yourself and your child to do everything reasonable to make sure your child is born healthy and without any physical problems. This is not something to gamble with.
