Sorry doc Im a big fan of yours..... , but this is not a very good result. A little sparse in some area's. How many grafts were used to restore the area? It definatley doesnt help that you used flash in the afters either.

I actually disagree with Dakota and think the result looks fine in the photos. Mind you, it may be a little thin, but it's natural looking nonetheless. Photo quality on the other hand is less than optimal.

How many grafts did this patient have? Do you have hair count breakdowns?

Thanks,

Bill

Thank you dakota3, I appreciate what you are saying. I too, thought he was a little sparse in some areas, especially the area in the box, of photo number 28.
Upon close inspection you will note that the placement of grafts was sparse in this area. We had a limited number of grafts available, the marked temporal recession needed to be addressed since the temple line is receded to the sideburn vertical line. Not to address the temple and temple peak would leave the patient ???top heavy??? and unbalanced. It would simply look like a toupee and that is not where we want to lead our nice patient. I think that we have achieved a balanced hair restoration but it is still a little sparse in one area behind the hairline. This patient is very happy with his outcome. At only 10 months post transplant there is still time for the transplanted hair to further mature thickening up a bit more. However, I would like to have 500-1000 more FUs to increase the density in this sparse area. Keep in mind that he has fine hair, of course with courser hair it far easier to achieve a denser result.

Thanks doc! The temples look great btw but I think he needs about 1500 to 2000 more in the front 2/3rds to give a more cosmetically pleasing result.

Bill, I didnt think it looked unnatural just thin.

Of course, I can increase the density in this patient, I do that all the time. Just understand that this is not sparse growth, it is sparse because it was planted sparse since we ran out of FUs. We did the best we could with what we had available. Maximizing the patient's outcome with a soft and natural result.

Natural result no doubt - he will however, if possible, need one more procedure of 1500-ish in the front to achieve a good density, and probably another 1500 in the crown to have a full look.

Either way, good work dr Arocha.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Mike The Dane. Absolutely, with more paint (follicles) the painting is always thicker, and more can be done.
