Check my weblog for my progress 9 months after the surgery. There has been some growth in the front and the temple regions. Otherwise, it more or less looks the same as it did during the 6 month mark.

3V_2008,
I think your hair is much improved from where it was before surgery. I noticed on your blog, you made a comment that you're waiting for the rest of the top to "fill-in". Keep in mind that due siginificant thinning you already had, and quite possibly more if hair loss progressed further in the last several months, that 3200 grafts (though a good number), will not eliminate the appearance of balding/thinning entirely. The human scalp has approximately 100,000 hair follicles, almost 50,000 of which fills the entire top of the scalp. Since the approximate average hairs per follicular unit graft is 2.2 hairs, you would need approximately 22700 grafts to create both full density and coverage on an entire balding scalp. To achieve an adequate illusion, you need approximately 50% of your original density, which is approximately 11,350 grafts. Obviously, you were not completely bald, but with significant thinning, you'd probably need another 3000+ or so grafts to maximize the illusion of density and minimize the appearance of thinning. The above is just to help you gain an understanding of just how many grafts it usually takes to get our desired result. It's also to help you acquire and maintain realistic expectations. Most patients don't have 11,000 grafts available and have to make due with significantly less. Cosmetic improvements are clearly possible with much less, such as in your case. Expect some more thickening over the next few months. The good news is, assuming you have the donor, you can always go back for more density in thinning areas. Best wishes, Bill

I see a nice improvement from 0-6 but very small improvement from 6-9 .
The crown is notorious for taking longer to fill in so wait until month 14 . Looking at your pics Im assuming that your not taking propecia. Do worry things should get better and if they dont Im sure your doctor will take care of you |

Actually I am taking propecia since the past 8 months mainly for the crown. It has definitely reduced the rate of hair loss. But I haven't seen any new growth from propecia. All growth has mostly occurred in the region where transplant was done i.e. front, temple and top. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another few months and hoping the crown would grow denser.
