This 50y/o female presented a year ago for bilateral eyebrow hair restoration. She reports having gradually lost all her eyebrow hair over the past 15 years. Diagnostic tests had been negative in workups she had for the problem.
162 1-hair grafts were placed on each side at the time of her single transplant surgery procedure. They were placed in 22 gauge needle sites by myself, using a stick-and-place technique. The hairs were left relatively long at around 3/4 inch in length, so that the slight curve of each hair could be obvious and the rotation of each graft could be in conformity with the flow of the eyebrow contour itself.
On the day of the "after" photos, she returned for 60 more grafts on the left side and 10 on the right side, simply because there was slightly more visual density on the left and this was done to even things up for her final appearance.

Looks great Dr. Beehner. I'm sure she's very happy with her new eyebrows.

Thank you for the kind words. As to the donor harvesting, these hairs came from a small strip in the rear-center of her scalp around halfway up the back. The reason I choose this area is multiple. First and foremost, the hair in this region is the last hair to turn white/gray. Secondly, I find this area the best for having an undetectable scar. Third, in women who do have hereditary female pattern hairloss in addition to their eyebrow problem, the hair in the occipital region in back is usually the densest hair and remains so the longest, if not for the duration of their life, so then the transplanted hairs will be of the darkest, fullest quality for the duration of her remaining life. The one disadvantage of this area is that it tends to have the highest percentage of 2-hair and 3-hair FU's and a lower percentage of 1-hair FU's, so it is necessary to carefully dissect some of the 2-hair grafts into 1-hair micrografts. This is one situation in which the term "micrograft" can truly be used and have some meaning. I used to place some 2-hair grafts into the central areas and I know that a fair amount of hair surgeons do that, but I like the control and evenness of using the tiny 22g needle throughout the area, and I find I can't normally place a 2-hair graft into a site that small.

Well done, good orientation, good density, perfect work.
