Some state they expereince "seasonal annual shedding".

Ther are many contributing factors that can send hair follicles into the telogen resting phase. Changes to one's hairloss meds can do it, scalp invigorators, cleansing products, and the like.

The premise though is that many hundreds of hair follicles get transplanted into a defined surface area and then go dormant in several weeks post-op. Three to four months later they enter the new growth cycle, and tons of new growth emerges. After they fulfill their first new complete growth cycle, hair follicles behave with intermittent growth for the most part.
That's very interesting thanks your thoughts. All i can think of is once a graft has been transplanted it simply is not as strong as a normal hair graft, that's why they have strange growth cycles after being moved a lot like when a boxer gets knocked out a few times he never performs as good.

I agree bonkers and also why I believe the growth cycles with body hair get interrupted when taken out of their original environment, and moved to the scalp. That's a entirely different subject.

Spex, This topic is one of the best and most comforting posts ive read. Thanks as always.

My transplant with Dr Feller has been brilliant and i noticed a few months back it had gone slightly thinner only to thicken up again recently. It took a few months and i was worried for a time.

That certainly could be the result of the improvement in the degree of coarseness to your transplanted hair. As we gain hair shaft diameter and hair caliber fattens, so does the degree of "visual coverage".

This is why "hair caliber" is the single most critical factor considered in achieving the illusion of coverage.

Enjoy!

It's more like 9 months on average for most individuals that I have observed and went through it myself.

Shedding can occur at various and different stages.

The hair can shed at any point as all in own cycle.

Seansonal shedding/shedding is shit and it can get you down. Experience has lead me to dig deep, park it and ride it out as it always sorts it self out.

It tends to sort itself out the less you scrutinise it

Great post, this.

I noticed a shed myself this winter - December just gone. It was a real concern at one point that it wouldn't sort itself out before my scheduled operation - so I nearly re-arranged. Fortunately, 3 months later (end Feb) it had pretty much recovered, I found that vitamin pills containing Biotin helped a lot.

Incidentally, I also noticed a an extremely clear change in colour of my hair after I started taking the multi vitamin, which I believe to be due to the Biotin. Whereas before it was very light, I noticed it became significantly darker relatively quickly (1-2 months). Perhaps something to think about for those of you who are greying (although I'm not sure if this would work in the same way).
