Hi Everyone,

I'm 27 years old and I've been losing hair the last 4/5 years. I'm now considering a hair transplant and have been doing a bit of casual researching on and off for about a year now.

I have been considering FUT (with Hanson and Wong in Vancouver or Dr Path in Thailand), but I'm concerned about the scar left from this technique - I shave my head down to 4mm in the warmer months and certainly don't want the scar to be noticable. I'm now also considering the FUE technique as the scarring appears to be less noticable. Anyway, I have a few questions inregards to both techniques:

FUE
- What are the common complications with the FUE techniqe?
- Can anyone recommend any world class surgeons that perform FUE? I'm ideally looking for someone who's on par with Hanson and Wong's FUT results.

FUT
- Has anyone on here had FUT and shaves their head relatively short? if so, is the scar noticable at all?

Any feedback will be appreciated!

FUE
- What are the common complications with the FUE techniqe?
FUE is an extremely delicate, time-consuming process, so yield may be compromised if too much is being attempted too quickly. There is also some degree of scarring associated with the procedure. It won't produce a linear strip scar, but tiny, feint "dots" may be visible upon close inspection.

If the surgeon uses improper technique, especially with a punch tool greater than .9mm in diameter, the patient could end up with a "moth-eaten" look in the donor area reminiscent of plug extraction, which can potentially be worse than a strip scar.

There are other physiological factors/obstacles that may come into play during FUE work, possibly more so than in a traditional FUT surgery. Dr. Feller has discussed the importance of overall scalp "cooperation" before in a few threads.

After my procedure with Dr. Dorin, I was able to comfortably buzz down with a #2 guard on the clippers (6mm) without any fear of detectability. It was a relatively small session, though. Being able to shave down closely without any evidence of strip surgery is pretty rare, especially after a large session.

If you plan on regularly keeping a closely-cropped hairstyle, then FUE is probably your better option.

Search for three FUE surgeons in Belguim. be aware that one may talk you into FUT but is still an excellent FUE surgeon the same

Check Feller if you're well off, but ditto for the above mentioned FUT suggestions. Shapiro sounds excellent and progressive attitude to boot re. FUE.Check a prominent well known surgeon in Sydney Australia and be patient while you wait. Excellent record but high price. Also two prominent FUE-only only surgeons in LA at a beach and in Atlanta with a C and with bad office rep. And in delhi with an A

FUT

yes, I have, the strip scarring is nasty even for well off strip scars. It gets worse as your hair thins at the back. the FUE scarring is not bad at all. But in the past, certain surgeons left white dots - particularly those who used 1mm punches. Hasson and Wong's rep has occasionally wheeled out these pics with the disclaimer that they are not representative of all FUE.

For getting results on par with the strip-FUT (note FUT is an acronym doesn't mention linear strip) it is hard to see enough reults to justify the claim that yield is as good. The C and W docs I mentioned have produced a number of excellent and natural looking results with a minimum of grafts.

Oh, and there is the chain with a reputation for incredible graft quotes with a name starting with A,
