I had the pleasure of meeting up with DazzaUK today to talk through potential HT plans /scar revision of his HG scar and also took some update pics to share with you all. He has come a long way since his repair with Dr Feller as can be seen - a slight tweak here and there to help refine due to his previous work and also his hair characteristic would only help in certain areas due to his very coarse thick hair. It was great to meet up again Dazza and fair play for getting tucked into the beers early doors The transformation is great so far.

Initial write up and info by DazzaUK:

Hi guys,

After 2 HTs in the UK wiyh poor results i started to check out all the hair loss forums and drs websites. After much research (which i wish i had done before any hts) decided to meet up with spex.

After even more research i decided to have my HT with Dr Feller.

I wont bore you with flight details. I did stay at the andrwes hotel which was v nice, i would def recommend it, nice staff, plenty of room and is v clean(important for after a procedure). Also Great Neck is a nice area.

I arrived at feller medical at 07.30 thought best to arrive early. Thanks PB for the map from the andrews to fellers, helped a lot. There was no one there when i arrived so went back down in the lift and there was dr feller, so introduced myself.

When we got to his office we sat down to discuss the day ahead. Dr feller answered all my questions and i told him all about my past 2 procedures. After inspecting my head/hair it was good to hear i had good laxity and donor for another HT session, but my 2 previous scars had stretched. One of these ( the higher one) was going to be taken out and made longer for the grafts for this procedure, 2000g. Dr feller also said that the grafts that were placed in the previous hts were so far apart a truck could be driven betwewen them!!!

Next was the photos and then the part i was least looking forward to the injections. For some these are fine but i always found the first few hurt after those you dont feel the rest.

The actual procedure takes a fair few hours( i was used to this). we stopped for lunch by this time the strip was taken then closed with staples, grafts cut down and the recepient holes made and maybe half the grafts put in place. At this this point dr feller showed me how it was looking, i was v pleased with how dense it was already looking. We finished at 3ish (started around 08.15 i think). Now it looked just as i hoped for, with good density and a good hairline, and should hide the old work behind the hairline with that addiong to the density.

I cant wait for it to start growing, now its the waiting game.

Last but not least Many Thanks to Dr Feller and his staff.
Dazzauk

DazzaUK, Glad you had chance to meet up with Spex for an update, much appreciated. You are looking to have developed very well since your repair surgery with us. Spex informs me that there is still room for improvement in his opinion especially due to your course "wiry" characteristic, in order to really finish the repair off. I remember commenting on your characteristic at the time and have it in my notes. Your hair type often needs to be "bulked" up and "tweaked" in order to pack out the hairs to help soften the overall illusion which we can easily do next time.

I appreciate the old low scar performed by your original clinic is still causing you some concern on a shorter grade hair cut. As we discussed previously when we met I feel the best way to address this is to fill it in rather than removal of it due to its very poor position. An attempt to remove this LOW scar by revision would most likely result in a reoccurring stretch and so would be a pointless surgery IMHO. The scar is just far to LOW and if i remember correctly nearly touches the ears. We can fill these corners in with grafts either from FUE or another strip to test the water whilst bulking up the hairline zone.

Thank you for updating you repair and I look forward to helping you further.

Dr. F

Thanks for the reply and comments dr feller.
From the pics how many grafts do you think i might need to totally finish the hairline and some into the scar?

That's a good question Dazza. It depends completely on the size area we intend to work on and the donor supply still available to use safely, but as a guide i would say in the region of 1200/1500 grafts would certainly help pack out the hairline. This will also allow us grafts to work in the corners of the old scar to help punish it in the most troublesome spots. Only on the day can we truly determine the exact number of grafts required and best approach for you. I look forward to seeing you in person.

Grow well!
Dr. F

Hello Dazza, congrats on your results, I am happy you are satisfied with them. I do notice one thing about them, they don't quite look the same as your native hairs. They look coarser, almost as if they were, dare I say, pubic hairs; dark, slightly curly, sprouting in various directions - do you notice this? I've seen this on a few patients accross the board.

Dr. Alan Feller, do you know why this is on certain patients? His native hair seems straighter, and more organized?

Gerald,
Thanks for the kudos.
Patients with coarse hair are a bit of a challenge and it is usually best for them to increase the density of their transplants beyond the average. When more hair is crowded into the recipient area, it will take on a more "organized" look.

Another patient I did, "Badhair UK" is an excellent example of this. His first surgery left him with exactly the kind of sprouty and unnatural appearence you describe, but one denser procedure with us turned it right around.

In the end, the denser the grafts are packed, the better, and a few procedures may be required in patients with thick coarse hair.

Thanks for the comments.

Dr. F

Yes this person definitely has unnatural looking growth, it's a shame it grew through coarse and fuzzy - that would need to be corrected Dr Feller? I've posted on other areas of the site about your results, I'm sure some are pretty good.

I have stated, I'm a journalist and I do wonder how it's acceptable to have a Forum clearly listing the tel nbrs of a doctor. Is a Forum not about impartial comment / lack of leaning etc? It would be best that the owners of the site correct that one or it can look like something is a little off.

Anderson C, Anyone might just think you had an "agenda" here against Dr Feller seeing as all your 9 posts so far have attempted to discredit him and his work. A newbie with ALL his posts singling out one Dr and his patients...ummm.

Who did your own HT, any pictures, where in actual fact are you based?
