This fellow came down at the end of February for a 2500 graft session. He was back yesterday for a scar check and given the number of scar blogs, and emails I get from patients about scars, I thought I would put up his "typical" scar at this time frame. Recall that in my experience ALL scars tend to look their worst at about 6 weeks, so if there isn't a problem then, there usually will be a nice scar at a year.

I put up some of his before and case pics. I see a fair number of folks who have this U shaped pattern of hairloss with a nice frontal tuft. Options include doing the "U" that I often do, or dealing with the entire frontal area assuming that tuft will go away someday.

I suggest the "U" in patients who have the significant potential for class 6-7 and who are likely to need more grafts later to help frame the face; and in patients who want to try to get the procedure done without significant change in their appearance during the postop period. This man, like a few others that I have posted, was able to go back to his NYC job at day 5, and his 6 week appearance doesn't show any sign that he ever had the recipient area shaved.

I would expect him to get a nice result by Christmas time, and still have lots of donor hair for the future...and he may need some of that.

I'll put up 6 month pics at the end of summer.

I put up a pic of his scar line at 3months 1 week. He was extruding one dissolvable deep suture yesterday, which I removed in about a minute. He has a bit of growth up front but its still very early. Another update around Labor Day.
