Hi

My surgery(FUE)was on Oct 14/09 with Dr Feller...he was able to get 412 grafts into 2 of my scars.

If all go's well with the 412 grafts...I will be heading back for more. I wanted a test session first and thought 400 would be a good start.

Dr Feller and his team were great and the only real pain was the injections and laying still for some time....but all in all well worth it.

Also like to mention that Dr lindsey was there and he did a few extractions as well....nice to have two great Doctors looking over ya.

Anyway, its now been 3 days and the FUE holes have closed up nice! Iam just taking it ez right now....hard part right now is waiting for the donnor area to grow back..I cannot shave the rest of it due to many other scars, so for now I'll lay low until Tuesday and mabe throw on a hat and venture out for a bit.

Dr Feller was kind enough to post some pic's of my surgery...

Hello Glenn,
I just read your post. Thanks for starting this topic, as it's one that I have a personal interest in as well.
I had three HT's in the early-mid 1990's with excellent results. However, my hair has thinned a lot esp in the crown area.
I have been thinking of buzzing my scalp to deal with the wispy patches of hair in the crown, but the scarring left from the HT's is extensive.
I'm at a point where I'd rather live with scar exposure than the thinning crown. But it sounds like you've had a great experience with scar repair.
Can you share your odyssey that led you to get the repair and how you went about with the decision (i.e. doctor selection). It would be very helpful and hopefully inspiring to me, if you wouldn't mind filling me in. Much appreciated. and good luck to you!

Lorne, Let me tell you it was a very long time before I got the guts to go through with another HT.

I have known for well over 7 years I was going to need some kinda repair work and that it was not going to be simple.

As you seen in my pic's I have 5 strip scars from the mid 90's. The hair up-top was receding fast and I had not choice but to shave it down to a #3....If left longer the mini/micro grafts looked really wierd.

So the back had to be left longer to cover 5 scars....well that also looked like hell, but I had no choice.

I have been on many HT boards for the last 5 years looking and looking. I know I couldnt do another strip and that I would not try to have the scars cut out....because of the chance they would re-strech.

I also was putting off repair becuase I thought mabe just mabe there will be a cure...no luck. I even waited out over a year to see if ACELL was going to work...that was a waste of time. After I heard ACELL was a no go...man I just wanted to someday be noramal and not worry about the back of my head every second of the day. I knew now FUE was my only option!

Went to see Dr Jones in Oakville...he said 1000 will do the trick...I didnt agree. I read some not so good things about him...I passed.

Went to see Armani...he told me it would take 3000 grafts...I kinda agreed...He also told me to get on propecia...and said that he wanted me to wait it out for a bit. I take it he kinda didnt want to do the repair, lucky for me I guess....have heard alot of so so work done by him as of late.

Dr Feller was always in the back of my head...I read so many good thing about him and saw his work on this site as well as others...his pictures were always so clear..I knew it was all for real. I also spoke with many of his patients who had strip and FUE....all had good things to say.

I really didnt want to travel to the USA for a medical prceedure, I live in Canada and thought it would be just crazy to go that far. Another year went buy and I didnt do a thing...my gut was telling me to go see Feller and see what he says, so I did.

I went to NY in June of this year..I was sold.

Really glad to have started this very long process and cant wait to see the first hairs pop through these nasty scars.

I will need more repair work....I'll just wait for these suckers to pop out first.

Glenn

It sounds like you had a great result, a great feeling. You know, with this forum and the members that are willing (and sometimes eager) to talk about their situation, its a great relief knowing your in good hands with the right Dr. I think you are in that boat. I wish this was around in 1991!! Another thing, when I talk to my friends with full heads of hair, they think I'm crazy, and sort of dismiss the topic, but this forum has it all for us...which I think is great too. Thanks Pat and Bill, I know you both know first hand what this means to have, but you can never hear it enough. cc
