just a second thought on this one dr M,was this all down to transplantation or was there other plastic surgery involved?(scalp reduction perhaps?)
i only ask this as looking at the graft count you seem to have got great density for under 3000 grafts.

Probably because it was all implanted in to scar tissue, the yield is a lot lower in these cases

Dr. Mohmand,
I agree that the results look phenominal. Considering the very large bald area (especially given that it's scar tissue) and the number of grafts, this is a night and day difference. If you have any surgical photos showing each procedure, I'm sure our members would be interested. I know I would. Best wishes, Bill

i was reluctant to comment on this case just because there are only 2 post-op photos. plus there is some comb over "effect" in it too. if there was only one and i repeat only one graft placement pic here, i'd bet my mortgage that this thread would be off-the-hook if not one of the most viewed ever. so far i don't know what to think of it and i'm not saying that it's fake neither.
my $.02 on this one. peace

KUDOS to you DR. Humayun! That's a difficult case to begin with due to the scar tissue and that's a fantastic result that I'm sure has improved the quality of life greatly. It's hard enought for us losing hair naturally but being scarred like that from a burn to the face/head has to be extremely difficult to come to terms with.
Not sure what his financial situation was but if it wasn't good hopefully you were able to cut him a nice break or even some pro bono work would be comendable for something like this. |
