This nice fellow came to see us for a conservative correction of frontal triangle recession. We opted for a relatively small case, but given his nice donor hair characteristics, and good family history, he should get a great result from this single procedure.
He lives a few hours away, and will stop back in on an upcoming visit to DC for a scar check, and I will post his updates mid Jan. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA

Although he paid for 1200, his final count was 1444, of which 857 were singles. I had already posted the case when I realized I left the count off.
We don't charge extra for these additional grafts. I have heard of some places saying "We have 60 hairs here, they are $5 a hair or we can toss them". We put them in. Bonus for the patient. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA

Most decent places dont charge for the extra grafts .
I have also heard that a couple crappy clinics do though. Dr Lindsey , We appreciate your help on here but when are you going to start posting some grown out results? Post op pics are nice but really dont mean jack. As a matter of fact I wish all doctors that have established themselves forget the immed post op pics and concentrate on the real money shots. This is what we all really want . Its one reason why so little comments are posted on these immed post op pics. Final results is what really matters |

PGP,
you hit the nail in the head dude!!! so to recap PGP's point graft placement w/ final result (hair pulled back if possible) is what we're all asking for. i really hope it's not too much to ask and i also think that that's the true representation of any successful HT.

Dr. Lindsey,
I too appreciate all the surgical photos you've been posting but agree with our members that it's time to see some more grown out results. Please post some grown out examples over the next few months so our members can see kinds of work you are doing. In order for us to consider you for the Coalition, it's important that we see a number of grown out examples showing multiple angles and close-ups. I look forward to seeing more of your results over the coming months. Best wishes, Bill

I will post some mature cases. I enjoy posting fresh cases like this however as the patient is excited about the start of a new venture with their hair, and I like seeing the entire process. It is nice to accomplish the procedure with minimal bleeding and discomfort and show the process.

Dr. Lindsey,
I totally agree that posting surgical photos and then adding progress photos is very helpful to our community. I also am quite certain this patient is excited with what's soon to come. But I think since you've posted a lot more surgical than grown out results at this point, that our community (and you) will benefit a lot more if you present some after pictures showing their results. Feel free to continue posting surgical photos. But let's get more results mixed in :-) I look forward to seeing them. Bill

Will do Bill,
Interestingly, I still find that a huge percentage of patients have no idea how a transplant is done. That includes alot of folks who come directly from this website, which I personally think does a great job in educating the potential patient. So, despite the recent flood of threads complaining that I, and other docs too, post too many pics from the case, I don't think as many potential patients are seeing them as I would have guessed. During a typical consultation, I describe in detail what goes on from the morning of the surgery to suture removal; often using a recent case that I have posted for illustration. I would guess that 80% of consults are extremely interested in the pictures and want to see more than one case....hence I don't think they saw them pre-visit; even though they may tell me they come from HTN.com. In fact, the $64.00 picture is, of all things, the picture of the person standing up after strip harvest with their hair in place and no sutures, blood, or scalp visible. That is what all of our patients want to see....that they won't have a big bald patch where the strip was taken. So, I understand the desire of you, and all of the "regular posters" to see grown outs...you have made your point. But please recognize that alot of "newbies" that come to our office, haven't found this particular part of the website and I am sure that they go home and review it after our consultation. Thanks Dr. Lindsey McLean VA

I agree that immediate post-op pics and intra-surgical are just as valuable as the full grown-out pics. I wish more doctor's web sites would have them. But, optimally it would be nice to see the entire journey from start to finish.

Well the picture I would want to see are people with grown out results. Do people STILL think that every docs achieves the same result. I know one thing any clinic can show you a ton of immed postop pics that make you go hmmmmm not bad but not many can produce final results that bring on the same reaction. |
