Janna,
I agree that this is unusual hair loss, but it definitely goes to show that nape hair isn't always the best for transplanting. Is it possible that her hair loss was due to traction alopecia, from over pulling or twirling of her hair? My wife didn't have any loss to this extreme, but after doing a lot of twirling, it started to become thin. After ceasing the activity, it grew back. Usually only in bad instances of traction alopecia is hair loss permanent. I trust this will turn out to be a great result as usual. Keep us posted. Bill

Actually, her hairloss was due to radiation she received years ago. All her hair grew back except a small patch just behind the center hairline and above her nape. We had a male patient not too long ago who also had radiation and his hair did not grow back on the left side of his head. All the transplanted hairs grew so we are optimistic that this ht will grow as well.
