In answer to a question by a Forum member concerning the other patient I posted, I am showing here a diagramatic depiction of what occurs with this technique, whereby a few of the hairs contained within a large 18-25 hair plug are removed, and then recycled and cut into FU's to be placed elsewhere.
The photo showing the cut-out surgical sites and FU slits in front of the hairline is 9 years old, but shows the principle. Today I would use many more and smaller FU sites than I did then. I also show the effect this had on this patient from both the front hairline view and the crown.
So, in summary, this approach COMBINES two approaches at once: reducing the "tree trunkiness" of the large grafts, while at the same time placing many small FU grafts in front of these old grafts.
