HPI: 26 yr old Caucasian male. Started to notice thinning on the crown when I was 21. Immediately started regimen with rogaine for roughly 3 months. I then started a more aggressive approach and underwent one year of therapy at the Hair Club for Men using their EXT system along with monthly in house treatment. Stopped after one year because of the expense and because I realized i could do their same regimen by buying products elsewhere to make them my own. Have been using some form of minoxidil for the past 5 years. I initially felt that it helped in the beginning but after 5 years I'm just going through the motions and just use it as part of my routine. Have not seen any new hairgrowth in over a year.
Purchased a hair max laser comb in 2011 and have currently been using it for over one year. I have not noticed any results in regards to regrowing hair. Maybe it is helping maintain what I have but I cant tell at this point.
Have tried different shampoos and conditioners for years. Revivogen, Natural organic, sulfate free, DHT inhibiting. I have never found one that is a miracle for regrowing more hair and that isn't drying.
I've currently started taking a topical formula of propecia along with Minoxidil RA. I am unsure of the concentration of propecia in the topical formula but with follow up with my dermatologist I've been on this new regimen for one month since 8/30/12. I'm hopeful.
Medications:multple supplements including, Viviscal, Saw palmetto, Multi vitamin, Fish oil, and DHT inhibitor i order offline. (they're probably garbage but I'm all about a multi facet approach)
Family History: My father has just recently been losing his hair. He is 66 with generalized thinning secondary to age and beta blocker therapy, some androgenic alopecia. My father also has an incredible hairline which pisses me off every time i compare it to mine at 26. My mother has thin limp hair, with a high hairline. Her brother is close to a norwood Va and so was my grandfather on her side.
Social History: I workout atleast 5x a week, (weights, run, crossfit, sports) good nutrition, drink casually on on the weekends i smoke on average 5 cigarettes a week. Terrible habit and I'm quitting.
