Bubby1914's Hair Loss Story

My hair loss story is very unfortunate because I did not have to loose my hair. Everyone in my family has beautiful, thick, healthy, african hair and my hair was never a concern of mine. In high school I decided to get micro braids (these are braids that are very small)... So the braids were done tight and I was told by my hair stylist that it would loosen in a few days and that everything was fine. So when I finally took the braids out I noticed that my hair was coming out from the roots as I unraveled each braid. I now had a patch of hair missing on both sides of my head. So I went back to the hair salon asking for help. I was told I should get a perm so my hair would lay flat and cover the hair loss till it grew back in and that's just what I did. After years later of getting perms and hiding my hair loss, I still have the problem and now it's even worse.

One day I just decided to face this problem head on and take some responsibility for what I did. I grew out my perm and for the first time I really educated myself about african hair. I've learned alot about what I was doing wrong with my hair and what works best for me. I never let hair stylist do whatever they want to, now I'm in control of what they do to my hair. I'm on the right track now but unfortunately I have permanent hair loss now. I plan to get a hair transplant and put this whole nightmare behind me. In the mean time I try to teach every young women the hard lesson that I have learned.
