I am a 48 yr old male in good health. My Moms father lived to 90 yrs and had more hair then me when he died(a norwood 4). My dad is 65 and he shares my same hairline. My dads father lived to 88 yrs and also shared my hairline. Same for my great grandfather on my dads side who lived to 101 yrs . So therefore I believe I will not get any balder then I currently am . My hair has also thickend on Rogaine Foam and generic Procar. I wish I started sooner!!
I had very thick curly hair until I was about 25 yrs old and then I started to lose it. When I go married at 28 yrs old I was balding but I had enough hair to comb and style. When I was 30 yrs old I had a bald spot in back but still had a hairline. From age 30 yrs to 39 yrs I went bald fast . I kept it shaved from 39 yrs to 43 yrs old.
I was a mortgage executive until the mortgage industry collapsed and I lost my Job. When I was looking for a job I realized how much I missed my hair and that I also lost confidence . When I join social networking sites I only want to show pics with hats because I am embarrassed by my lack of hair.
I went to doctor Gallagher of Pa in June of 2009 and he proscribed propecia and I also started rogaine foam. At that time he said I was a Norwood 7 and that I was not a good candidate for a hair transplant.I really appreciated his honesty and integrity! I went back on 12/09 and my pictures proved that my hair thickened up and he said he could give me a hairline with the crown still bald. He would not give me a graft number estimate. 01/2010 I went to visit with Dr Pistone of NJ and he said I am a borderline candidate and that he could give me an hair line that would look natural . He estimated that I have enough donor hair for two transplants of about 1600 grafts. He said I was a norwood 6 not a 7 and that I would probably have to except being bald in the crown.
I then found this website and decided that I wanted to get another evaluation from a Top Doctor. I went to see Dr Cooley in NC . I really enjoyed this visit with Dr Cooley ! He showed me pictures of guys with similiar hair and said he could do two hair transplants of about 2500 grafts each. He took alot of time with my family and I and I left with a very good feeling about him and his practice. I then got a new job and had to put off my hair transplant plans till the end of this yr..
I visted Dr Rahal in NYC and DR Lindsey in Virginia.. I am Looking for a Dr that wants to help me re-gain my hair . I am looking for a Dr that likes challenges!
Thanks for this Great Site!!
